We venture into the breathtaking Flinders Ranges, 200km north of Adelaide, South Australia. Riding in the "King of Towing," a powerful 350Kw Chev Silverado 2500 HD LTZ with a 6.6-litre V8 motor and a whopping 1332Nm of torque, towing the ultimate off-road companion – the Mountain Trail RV Luxury Offroad Hybrid Tandem Axle Caravan.

Further north. More red dirt. The Oodnadatta Track awaits. In part two of our Flinders Ranges and Oodnadatta Track series, join Nick and Heidi as they head into the outback with their Chev Silverado 2500 HD LTZ and Mountain Trail RV in tow. Nick and Heidi return to the Kimberley, joining Nick’s dad, Ray, for another adventure along the Gibb River Road. With their Chev 2500 LTZ and Mountain Trail RV in tow, they tackle rocky tracks, corrugations and red dust on the journey towards Mitchell Falls. Watch the first episode of the new series.

Rough roads. Remote gorges. In part two of their Gibb River Road adventure, Nick, Heidi and Nick’s dad, Ray, continue west through the Kimberley with two Mountain Trail RV caravans in tow. The tracks get rockier and the corrugations keep coming, but there’s plenty worth stopping for. Detours lead to walks through ancient landscapes and a swim beneath waterfalls, surrounded by towering gorge walls.

Ray turns 79 in the Kimberley, with Bell Gorge on the birthday itinerary. In our Gibb River Road finale, Nick and Heidi encourage Ray to tackle the rocky walk into the gorge before taking to the skies for a different perspective on the country they’ve been travelling through.Then it’s on to Windjana Gorge, the final stop after kilometres of corrugations, rocky tracks and some remarkable places along the way. Steep climbs ahead. Mountain Trail RV in tow. Three couples head into the Victorian High Country with a Nissan Y62 Patrol, Ford Ranger Raptor and Toyota LandCruiser, each towing a Mountain Trail RV camper. The hills put vehicles, campers and drivers to the test, with rugged tracks demanding attention and sweeping mountain views worth stopping for. Watch the adventure unfold.

Two Rangers, a large ocean swell and a tight passage through Ngkala Rocks. Join Nick, Heidi, Steve and Stirling as they head up K’gari’s east coast towards the island’s northern tip in a highly modified Ford Ranger Wildtrak and a Ford Ranger Raptor. The notorious Ngkala Rocks puts both vehicles and drivers to the test — and they only just make it through.

We took the new Toyota Tundra towing the Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.4 Paragon out onto our test track to see how this combination performs under real towing conditions. Across a hill climb, braking test and 0–100 km/h acceleration run, we pushed both the vehicle and the 3500kg, 23ft  tandem caravan to see how they handled real-world performance and control.
