Our Story
Mountain Trail RV was established in 2007 in Albury, NSW as an engineering business. Our objective was to use raw materials and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery to create the world’s best high-performance luxury campers and caravans. We endeavored to engineer lightweight campers and caravans that can withstand harsh corrugations, suit Australian tow vehicles and that have a dust-free design to be suitable for the vast Australian continent.
Precision is key in our assembly, where we manufacture laser-cut and CNC-pressed aluminium sheet-metal for joinery, which is unique in the RV/caravan industry. Our sheet metal is then secured using structural rivets, bolts and glues which eliminate the use of timber and wood screws. All components including refrigerators, drawers, slides and doors are bolted in place to ensure they will not move over the life of the caravan. We use our factory-owned laser-cutting machines, brake presses, lathes, routers and robots to ensure the campers and caravans are assembled with absolute precision.
We manufacture our own electronically controlled independent air suspension and chassis that are derived from Australian BlueScope steel and laser-cut in-house. Without compromising strength and long-term durability, we have significantly reduced the weight of our chassis by removing unnecessary steel. All our chassis are finite element analysis (FEA) tested to ensure they meet the Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliance for off road conditions. Every chassis that leaves our factory is hot-dipped galvanized to ensure the ultimate protection against rust and corrosion.
Our roof, walls and floor are manufactured from European composite panel sourced from Germany and Italy. The panels are CNC-cut in-house to give us ultimate control over accuracy and quality. Composite panels are lightweight, strong and offer the best temperature and acoustic insulation properties available.

2024 is our 18th year of manufacturing and we are proud to be Australian owned. We don’t just stop with the product; customer service is just as important. Our History
In 2007,
Mountain Trail Campers was founded with a goal of producing high-end off-road camper trailers.
The company designed and engineered parts from concept and manufactured from raw materials - all in-house.
In 2013,
The evolution of the original soft-floor design was furthered and the EDX V1 Hardfloor Camper was released at the Adelaide Caravan Show.
At the time, the Australian market didn’t have an electric opening and closing rear-folding hard floor camper.
In 2016, the EDX V1 won the prestigious Camper Trailer of the Year Award. This was the only year it was entered into this annual competition.
Original design
In 2016, the company released its first caravan, the Hybrid CXV 3.7.
Like its predecessors, the CXV 3.7 was designed from concept and carried forward much of the now proven off-road credentials previously found in the EDX.
This included a hot-dipped galvanized laser-cut steel chassis, aluminium cabinet carcasses and in-house designed full off-road suspension.
Award winning design
The CXV 3.7 won the 2018 Camper Trailer of the Year Award which was the only year we have entered a caravan into this annual competition.
In that same year, design commenced on a major update to the EDX V1 Hard floor Camper.
In 2019,
We changed our name to Mountain Trail RV.
Acknowledging that the company was now building camper trailers, hybrid vans and full-width caravans.
The updated EDX V2 Hardfloor Camper was also launched that same year.
Today,
Our Albury-based company now proudly supports 70 staff, multiple production lines and produces 12 different models including the EDX V2 Camper.

Our off-road caravan and camper chassis are designed in house by our mechanical engineers made from Australian RHS and SHS steel which is laser cut, welded in our factory and hot dip galvanised.
